The Iowa City Public Library Bookmobile won’t be in service the week of August 19 because of scheduled vehicle maintenance, collection updates, and staff training.
During the Bookmobile’s seasonal break in service, items can be returned at the downtown Library or to the Library’s remote drop boxes. Holds that arrive at the Library during this time can be found by inquiring at the Help Desk at the downtown Library or on the Bookmobile when our Fall Schedule begins.

The numbers for fiscal year 2019 -- otherwise known as the Bookmobile's second year of service -- are in, and we have so much to celebrate!
In FY19 we checked out 31,436 items and welcomed 16,349 visitors onto the Bookmobile. We offered Bookmobile services on 193 days and the Bookmobile was in service for 759 hours. We even set a new record for the number of transactions in a single day. We had 353 checkouts on June 24.
At the beginning of the fiscal year we set a goal of 331 Bookmobile visitors per week. We exceeded that goal with an average of 367 visitors each week. We are busiest during the spring and summer months. Thank goodness for air conditioning! But don't be afraid to visit us in the fall and winter; the Bookmobile is heated.
Community and Access Services coordinator Kara Logsden says the numbers only tell part of the story, saying that a patron recently called the Bookmobile "the best idea ever!" We're so glad to hear that; we love the Bookmobile, too!

Where did the summer go?
The 2019 Summer Reading Program, A Universe of Stories, ends Friday, August 9. That went faster than the speed of light!
Remember, you can turn in your completed game card on the Bookmobile AND pick up prizes on our mobile library, too. We have prizes for all levels of the program, babies through adults.
