Mark your calendars now for the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation’s Big Book Bash at Big Grove Brewery! This all-ages event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, at the Brewery, 1225 S. Gilbert St.
Library lovers are invited to come, eat and talk all things books, including how support from the community makes ICPL better. The Bookmobile will be on site for use, and there will be games and craft activities.
The Big Book Bash is a Big Grove for Good event. A percentage of the night's food, beverage, and merchandise sales will be donated to the Friends Foundation, so let’s pack Big Grove for a fantastic evening for ICPL!

Reading Boost program extended through July
Elementary school-age children have the opportunity to get a Reading Boost with free reading tutoring at the Library.
The Library has partnered with the University of Iowa Honors Program for a reading program designed to keep literacy skills fresh.
Reading Boost will be held through July 23, with 20-minute tutoring sessions available between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.
This is not a drop-in program; participants must sign up for their tutoring slot. To sign up, visit ICPL's calendar, select the date you want, click on reading tutor and register for your preferred time slot. You may also register by calling the Library at 319-356-5200; ask for the Children’s Desk.
Mark your calendars now for Lib Con 2 on Aug. 10
The summer sequel you've been waiting for -- Lib Con 2 -- is back and better than ever!
The Library’s annual comic con will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, throughout the Library building. Plans are still being finalized, but we know Artist Alley will be back for attendees to check out and buy local comic books and art. The Fandom Room will have a variety of arts and crafts creations, and we have a great lineup of panelists eager to share their knowledge about cosplay and other topics.
Attendees are encouraged to dress in their favorite costume. We’ll give away prizes for the best dressed in children's, teens and adults categories. The children's contest will be judged at 11:30 a.m., teens at 1 p.m. and adults at 3 p.m. The winners will be announced immediately after. Winners must be present to collect their prize.
Lib Con is free and open to all ages. Keep checking our website for more information.
