The Bookmobile is proud to be part of Iowa City's Pride Week festivities during National Pride Month. Look for us at this year's Iowa City Pride Picnic, which will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in Upper City Park.
In addition to the picnic, the Library will host a special Family Storytime on Saturday. Come to our Pride Month Drag Storytime from 10:30 to 11 a.m. in Meeting Room A. Fun costumes are encouraged and we will have silly props available as we read LGBTQ stories and sing and dance with some local drag kings and queens. After Storytime, pop outside for the start of the Iowa City Pride Parade at noon! Once again, ICPL staff will be marching in the parade.

Bookmobile at Stories in the Park
The Iowa City Public Library’s summertime outdoor reading series, Stories in the Park, is held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday through August 2 at the following locations:
Monday at Willow Creek Park, 1177 Teg Dr.
Wednesday at Wetherby Park, 2400 Taylor Dr.
Friday at Mercer Park, 2701 Bradford Dr.
Please note that even though there is construction work at Willow Creek, Stories in the Park is still happening. Look for the Bookmobile closer to Kiwanis Park.
Stories in the Park is a mix of traditional storytimes and special performances. You'll find our lineup for summer performers here. Children, parents and caregivers should remember to bring their Library Card in order to check out books and DVDs from the Bookmobile. Anyone who doesn’t have a Library Card can sign up here and pick-up their new card on the Bookmobile.
In the event of rain, the Monday and Wednesday storytimes will be held at the Library and the Friday storytimes will be cancelled. However, the Bookmobile will still travel to the parks, rain or shine, so visitors can check out items. In instances of severe weather, Bookmobile services will be canceled. If this happens, information will be shared on the Library’s website.
Summer Reading Program registration on the Bookmobile
Get ready to explore A Universe of Stories, the theme for the Iowa City Public Library’s 2019 Summer Reading Program.
This year’s program will be held June 1 through August 10. Registration can be completed at the Library, online or on the Bookmobile. You can pick up your prizes on the Bookmobile, too!
Participation is free and available for all ages, babies through adults. All registrants will receive a game card to track their progress in meeting summer reading goals. The game cards also include information for all Summer Reading Program activities, programs and events.
