Upcoming Teen activities at the Library
We Can Code, a workshop for teens to explore the basics of

supportive environment, recently returned to the Iowa City Public Library after a summer hiatus. It will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Library’s Digital
Media Lab on the second floor every Saturday in October.
Frights and scares more your thing? Join us in the Teen Center to watch A Quiet Place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31. This thriller takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, where a family is forced to live in silence while hiding from monsters with ultra-sensitive hearing.

Anne can't say enough good things about Anne Byrn's American Cookie: The Snaps, Drops, Jumbles, Tea Cakes, Bars & Brownies That We Have Loved for Generations. "Cookies? Count me in. History of said cookies? Even better. In American Cookie, Anne Byrn (American Cake) takes on the humble cookie as she tells America's story through the recipes. From icebox cookies to jumbles to teacakes, if you are a history nerd or a baking fiend (or both!), this is a must read."
Finally, there's the book everyone is talking about -- Fear: Trump in the White House by Bob Woodward. Maeve says the book stands up to the hype. "It isn't an easy read as Woodward details the first years of the Trump presidency, in fact an almost day-to-day reckoning of the Trump White House and the various staff who are hired, fired or quit. I think it is one of the most important works to be published on the 45th president of the United States. Add it to your must read list."
