Harrison Street Parking Facility receives design award
Iowa City's Harrison Street parking facility, as part of the Harrison/Sabin Townhomes project, designed by Neumann Monson Architects, received an American Institute of Architects, Iowa Chapter (AIA Iowa) Honorable Mention for Excellence in Design Award in September.
The 600-space parking facility, located at 175 E. Harrison St., opened in spring 2017, and uniquely includes 28 residential condominium units. It was one of seven buildings to be honored out of more than 70 that entered.
"We are thrilled with the result of the project and the successful partnership we have had with the Neumann Monson team," Transportation Services Director Darian Nagle-Gamm said. "We are incredibly proud of this facility, and invite the community to enjoy its beautiful design."
The Harrison Street Parking facility is located in the Riverfront Crossings District, and features two electric vehicle charging stations, and is free to park on Sundays. It is also one of two City operated ramps that use the mobile app PassportParking to pay for and extend parking time. Learn more by visiting, icgov.org/parkingapps.
This project wouldn't have been possible without the hard work of Neumann Monson Architects, with support by the Iowa City Community School Distirct, MidWestOne Bank, and the University of Iowa.
