Street closures, parking and transit changes for Jazz Festival

The
Iowa City Jazz Festival is a three-day weekend full of live jazz music that
closes out with a spectacular fireworks display on Sunday evening over the University of Iowa
Pentacrest.
The
festival, produced by Summer of the Arts, will happen Friday, June 29 through
Sunday, July 1, 2018, and includes performances by national and international
jazz musicians – plus culinary and artist rows, a beverage garden, and
fun zone for kids.
Road
closures and restricted parking
No
parking starts at 12:30 p.m. and roads close at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 28. All streets will be reopened between noon and 12:30 p.m., Monday, July 2.

In addition to reduced street parking, some ramp
and lot parking will be reserved for festival vendors, performers and service
vehicles. Look for posted signs indicating restricted parking.

During the festival, parking will operate regular hours, rates and enforcement.
First Hour Free
Take advantage of the First Hour Free program at the Dubuque Street, Capitol Street and Tower Place parking garages, in addition to the Court Street Transportation Center. For more info visit icgov.org/parkingmeters.
Parking Apps
Download the PassportParking app and use it to pay for City metered spaces, or to park inside the Chauncey Swan and Harrison Street ramps. Check if ramp space is available remotely by downloading the ParkMe app. For details, visit icgov.org/parkingapps.
Bike Parking
Free festival bike parking, that includes a secure valet, will be available at the intersection of Iowa Avenue and Dubuque Street near Culinary Row. No need for bike locks or to carry your helmet around. City bike racks are also located throughout Downtown.
Transit schedule
The bus interchange at the intersection of Clinton and Washington streets will be temporarily relocated to the Court Street Transportation Center, 150 E. Court St., beginning at 6 a.m., Thursday, June 28, and will remain there until Monday, July 2.
Transit services will be free on Friday and Saturday. Normal schedules will be in place with the following detour and stop closures beginning on Thursday.

Other information
Fireworks Display
The City of Iowa City holiday fireworks show will get underway sometime between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, following the final jazz performance on the Main Stage.
Be mindful of possible delays due to inclement weather. The rain date is set for Monday, July 2, same time, same place. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and take in the show from the University of Iowa Pentacrest lawn. The west lawn provides the best view, but fireworks will be visible from the east side of the Old Capitol building and Downtown. For more information, visit www.icgov.org/fireworks2018.
Accessibility accommodations
An accessibility golf cart shuttle will be available to people with mobility issues. Call 401-584-2787 if you need assistance to get from the ramps to the main festival area. An accessible seating area will also be located to the left of the Main Stage.

Information booths will be available at the main festival entrances and at the merchandise booth on Clinton Street. A first aid station will be accessible on Clinton Street as well.
