City of Iowa
City administrative offices and other facilities will be closed Wednesday, July
4, 2018, to celebrate the Independence Day holiday.
Airport: The
office will be closed, but
Jet Air will be open from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and 24-hour self-serve fuel will
be available.
Animal Care and Adoption Center: Closed.
Landfill: Closed.
Library: Closed.
Oakland Cemetery:
Closed.
Parking:Closed. City ramps and metered parking will not be enforced.
Parks and Recreation: Administrative offices will be closed, other facilities are as follows:
The Robert A. Lee Community Recreation
Center and Mercer Park Aquatic Center/Scanlon Gym will close at 5 p.m., with indoor pools closing at 4 p.m.
City Park pool will maintain normal hours,
closing at 8 p.m.

Police: Administrative offices and records closed. Patrol will operate normally.
Senior Center: Closed. No senior meals.
Trash & Recycling: No garbage, recycling, or yard waste collection.
Residents on the Wednesday route should have materials to the curb by 7 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, although the City cannot determine exactly when items will be collected.
All other pick ups will follow a normal schedule.
Transit:No transit services.
Note: a special schedule is currently running for the Iowa City Jazz Festival with free rides Friday and Saturday. The Downtown Interchange is temporarily located at the Court Street Transportation Center through Monday, July 2. The Downtown Interchange will return Tuesday, July 3. Water: Closed.
If a water emergency occurs, call the
24-hour emergency number at 319-356-5166.
Normal City operations will resume Thursday, July 5.
Holiday Fireworks Display
The Iowa City Jazz Festival, produced by Summer of
the Arts, will happen Downtown June 29 - July 1. The event will close with the
