RAGBRAI is rolling through Iowa City on Friday July 27. To celebrate, there are official RAGRAI t-shirts for sale at a number of locations, including ICPL's Help Desk.

The cost is $20 per shirt, while supplies last.

The shirts for sale at the Library are Canvas Bella cotton/poly blend in size medium and large in both black and gold versions. Additional sizes are available through online ordering at the official RAGBRAI Merchandise webpage.

All proceeds offset RAGBRAI expenses. Any profits from the event will go to the United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties.

Toes will be tappin’ when HomeBrewed takes the stage on Tuesday, June 26, for a live concert benefiting the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation.

The music will play from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at The Mill Restaurant, 120 E. Burlington St. There will be a cover charge of $10 per adult, $5 per child (17 and younger), with all funds going to the Friends Foundation.

HomeBrewed is music with a mission, with members playing songs that go back to the intersection of blues, gospel and country, also known as the beginning of rock and roll. HomeBrewed uses music to give back to the community by playing fundraisers to benefit nonprofit organizations. All funds raised at Rock-N-Read will support various Library programs, including the Bookmobile and Summer Reading Program.

The second annual Downtown Block Party will be held from 5 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 23. Last year's event brought an estimated 30,000 people to downtown Iowa City. Will you be part of the 2018 celebration?

The Library will join the fun by staying open until 10 p.m. on June 23. All Library services will be available at that time, including checkouts and public computer use. We'll also host a Mario Kart 8 Video Game Tournament in Meeting Room A.

Registration begins at 7 p.m., with the game starting at 7:30 p.m. The victor will receive a Downtown District gift card!

Have you registered for Libraries Rock!, the 2018 Summer Reading Program? No? Don't worry; there's still time to join the fun! Participants can register online, at the Library or on the Bookmobile.

Teen and Adult Summer Reading Program participants complete the program when they read five books, or read three books and attend two programs.

Teens who complete the program will receive a free book and food coupon, and be entered into the grand prize drawing for one of four $50 Downtown Iowa City gift cards. Adults who complete their game card will receive a free book and be entered into the grand prize drawing for one of four $50 Downtown Iowa City gift cards.
