Are you looking for ways to show ICPL some love this month? The Friends Foundation has many LOVEly options!
Adults 21 and older are invited to attend the Wine and Craft Beer Tasting at HyVee Drugstore/Wine & Spirits from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 16. Adult beverage distributors will offer free samples of wine, beer, and spirits at this drop-in event for Library friends, the public, and members of the HyVee Wine Tasting Club. Stop by to visit with friends as you try something new, and HyVee will donate a percentage of the evening’s sales to the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation.
FilmScene will show Ex Libris, the award-winning documentary about the New York Public Library, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, and Sunday, February 18. Tickets may be purchased here.
Did someone say Book Sale? The Friends Foundation will host a Book Sale from
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, and from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, in Meeting Room A.What's not to LOVE when there are great books available and you determine their price?
Be sure to mark your calendars now for the Friends Foundation’s
Big Book Bash at Big Grove Brewery. This all-ages event will be held from 5 to
8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, at the Brewery, 1225 S. Gilbert St. Library
lovers are invited to come, eat, and talk all things books, including how
support from the community makes ICPL better. A percentage of the night's food and beverage sales will
be donated to the Friends Foundation.
Archives Crawl at the Iowa City Public Library Feb. 24
Learn more about local resources and archival items at
the Iowa City Public Library in the newly expanded Computer Lab from 11 a.m. to
3 p.m. on Saturday, February 24.
Library staff and speakers from local historical groups,
including Friends of Historic Preservation, the Johnson County Historical
Society, and Historic Foodies, will share insights into collecting and
preserving history. Come for one, two or all of these great programs:

Nintendo Switch added to ICPL’s video game collection
The Iowa City Public
Library has added Nintendo Switch to its young adult and juvenile video
game collection.
Nintendo Switch is designed to go wherever gamers go, with the ability to
transform from home console to portable system.
The games join others in the
Library’s collection, which includes Nintendo Wii and Wii U, Microsoft Xbox 360
and Xbox One, and Sony Playstation 3 and Playstation 4.
All video games in the
Library’s collection may be checked out for one week. There is a two games per
person limit.
Video games may be renewed once if a patron has not placed a hold
request on the item.
The fine for late video games is $1 per day.
Anime Cosplay Tea Party for Teens Feb. 28
Celebrate no school on Wednesday, February 28, by attending the Library's Anime Cosplay Tea Party from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Teen Center.
In celebration of the new anime season, we will watch anime, sip tea, and snack on treats just like those seen in Black Butler, Tokyo Ghoul, and Ouran Host Club.
There will be games and a prize for the best cosplay, so be sure to wear your finest anime-inspired cosplay -- but you can come as you are, too.
Teen programs are for students in 7th through 12th grades.
