IPTV's Dan Wardell to Visit Iowa City Public Library
Dan Wardell, the popular host of IPTV KIDS
Clubhouse, will be at the Iowa City Public Library on Thursday, July 13, as
part of his 11th annual Iowa Public Television’s Reading Road Trip.
Wardell will travel to 24 local communities this
summer to share an original, interactive story with kids and families. As he has in the past, Wardell will encourage kids to turn
their TVs off, read a good book, go outside and play, use their imaginations,
and eat healthy foods.
“We are excited to welcome Dan Wardell back to ICPL as
he travels across the state to promote reading,” Children’s Coordinator Angela
Pilkington says. “His enthusiasm for books, reading and using your imagination
is what the Summer Reading Program is all about.”
Kids are invited to attend Wardell’s storytime on July 13 from
9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in Meeting Room A.
Support for the Reading Road Trip is provided by Blank
Children’s Hospital and Casey’s General Stores.
Children's Room Update
The Children's Room was closed Saturday, June 17, and Sunday, June 18, following a sewer backup in the family restroom. The Library's Magazine Room served as a temporary Children's Room during this time. We appreciate the understanding of our patrons as we continued services the best we could given the circumstances.
The Children's Room reopened on Monday, June 19, but the Storytime Room, family restroom, and recently returned shelves and reading area remain closed during repairs. Because of this, the location of some Summer Reading Program events have moved; please check the calendar for the latest information.
All items that were contaminated in the backup have been or will be replaced. We anticipate the closed areas will be back in use by July 17.
Thank you, everyone, for your cooperation and patience. We truly have the best Library patrons!
