Iowa City Police Officer elected to the Iowa State Police Association Board of Directors
An Iowa City Police Officer was elected to serve as the director of the state board of the Iowa State Police Association (ISPA) during the group's 84th annual conference in Sioux City, held Oct. 3-5, 2016.
Officer Becki Sammons will hold a seven year term with the service culminating as President of the state board of directors.
The Iowa State Police Association was founded in 1932 to benefit not only the membership, but all law enforcement officers across the state. The ISPA works in the state capitol lobbying for changes that will help street officers better perform their duties and is currently the largest association of law enforcement professionals in Iowa.
Officer Sammons has been with the Iowa City Police Department since September 1992 and has served in a variety of roles including Field Training Officer and Accident Reconstructionist. She has also worked as a member of the Crisis Negotiation team and has been involved with Project Lifesaver.
Officer Sammons is currently assigned as a patrol officer on the day watch patrol.
