Iowa City Police Investigate Armed Robbery
On July 25,
2016 at approximately 1:18 a.m., the Iowa City Police Department responded to
Pancheros Mexican Grill at 965 Riverside Drive, Iowa City, IA for an unknown
problem.Upon arrival, officers were
informed that they had been robbed by a male with a handgun.The victims reported they were exiting the
business when the suspect approached them from the rear parking lot brandishing
a handgun and forced them, at gunpoint, back into the store. The suspect then forced the victims to hand
over an undisclosed amount of cash and/or property.
The suspect
was described as a tall slender black male wearing a black hoodie with the hood
up, black pants, and a black mask covering most of his face.The suspect then exited in an unknown direction.No one was injured during this armed robbery.
This
incident remains under investigation and the Iowa City Police Department is
requesting the assistance of the public.The Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering up to a $1000 cash reward
for information leading to the arrest of this suspect(s). Anyone with
information about this crime is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS
