Green to Go Community Health Fairs
Iowa Total Care had another successful season of our Green to Go Community Health Fairs! Our Community Health Fairs showed up across the state and provided free, fresh produce and resources to our local communities.
In conclusion, we gave out a total of 19,010+ pieces of fresh, free produce and over 3,339 attendees served.
Iowa Total Care will continue our Green to Go outreach in 2026 to continue promoting healthy living through healthy eating. Stay up to date on upcoming events on our Be Well. Eat Well. webpage.
Shoes for Shots
Every year, Iowa Total Care employees help host the Shoes for Shots program. Shoes for Shots is an HPV vaccination clinic hosted by Iowa Total Care and local providers for Iowa Total Care members ages nine and older.
At the clinic, members get a chance to earn a new pair of shoes, meet with Iowa Total Care staff to learn about resources, and learn more about the importance of immunizations and child well care visits. And we had an amazing turnout over the summer! Lots of kids were able to get a new pair of shoes and an HPV vaccine.

Iowa Total Care’s Member Handbook has been updated and is now live on our website! We spent the first half of 2025 making sure our Member Handbook is updated with the most accurate information for you.
Some new updates that you might see in our 2025 Member Handbook are:

Helping Wellpoint members overcome employment hurdles
Through its partnership with One City United and its Momentum employment program in Waterloo, Wellpoint has been able to provide gap-covering funds for Wellpoint members who need just an extra leg up to help them find or sustain employment.
Because of this partnership, two Wellpoint members were recently able to acquire new bikes to help them get to and from job interviews and work, removing their transportation barriers and giving them motivation to continue their employment journeys.
Wellpoint provides more than 500 backpacks with critical supplies across Iowa
During the month of August, Wellpoint associates gathered across the state to stuff backpacks for students and communities in need. Backpacks stuffed with essential school supplies were provided to:
- Scott and Clinton Counties: Clinton Alternative High School, Bettendorf Alternative High School, and Safer Foundation
- Linn County: Marion Cares, a non-profit that works with Linn-Mar Community School District
- Woodbury County: Boys and Girls Club of Siouxland
- Marshall County: Marshalltown Community School District
Backpacks filled with essential hygiene supplies were also distributed to Almost Home Dubuque’s Open Closet, a program that provides essential items to vulnerable individuals and families.
Breaking new ground to better serve at-risk youth in Des Moines
Wellpoint reaffirmed its longstanding partnership with Starts Right Here, an organization that serves youth in Des Moines, by supporting their groundbreaking event in August. This event celebrated the expansion of a new building as the headquarters to empower local at-risk youth through education and support programming.
