New dashboards now available for employment outcomes and CTE

Dashboard

Community college leaders can now access additional dashboards highlighting employment outcomes and career and technical education (CTE) programs thanks to a pair of grants received by the Bureaus of Community Colleges and CTE and Postsecondary Readiness.

Users are now able to benchmark post-graduation employment against other community colleges at the national, state and programs via the Bureau of Community College's Credit Programs Outcomes dashboard.

This new dashboard and data visualization was created through competitive grant funding from the Postsecondary Employment Outcomes (PSEO) Coalition and is available via the PSEO tab.

Users can view and download the summary and full data tables, as well as create customizable reports that can be downloaded as PDFs. For more information on creating these customizable reports, please refer to the linked tutorial.

Through a grant from Advanced CTE (ACTE), the Bureaus have also created a new dashboard that allows for customized reports and downloads for all postsecondary programs, secondary CTE credit programs, and postsecondary noncredit CTE programs by college area, career clusters, and individual programs for the last three years. This dashboard can also be accessed through the main community colleges web page on the Department's site.

The ACTE grant enabled the Department to connect secondary CTE and postsecondary CTE credit and noncredit programs under a single umbrella through the WebMIS data collection tool.

For more information on the dashboards, accompanying data and its usage, contact Bureau of Community Colleges administrative consultant Vlad Bassis at vladimir.bassis@iowa.gov.

Administrators participate in New Deans Academy

New Deans

More than 20 community college administrators participated in the New Deans Academy on June 11 at Iowa State University as part of the Community College Leadership Development Consortium.

Designed for community college deans who are new to or serving in their first three years in their position, the three-day academy provided sessions to aid deans in enhancing systems, building collaboration, mentoring faculty, budgeting, planning, compliance, and program management.

Bureau of CTE and Postsecondary Readiness Administrative Consultant Heather Meissen led the session on program management, detailing how deans can leverage data to maximize the impact of their CTE programs and align program curriculum and outcomes with industry standards.

Deadline extended to July 18 to submit State Park and Institutional Roads program proposals

Hard hats

The State Park and Institutional Roads Program provides funding to construct, reconstruct, improve, and maintain roadways, including bridges, within the boundaries of state-owned lands or community college property. Sixty-five one-hundredths of one percent of the Road Use Tax Fund is allocated to maintain and improve the State Park and Institutional Roads system.

The Park and Institutional Roads System has over 600 miles of roadways. State agencies participating in the program are the Iowa Department of Corrections (DOC), the Iowa Department of Education (DOE) State Fair Board, the Department of Human Services (DHS), the National Guard of Iowa, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Board of Regents and Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Capitol Complex.

If interested in participating in this program, please complete this form to submit a proposal for State Park & Institutional Road funds for the calendar year 2031.

The deadline for the next round of road fund proposals is Friday, July. 18, 2025 at 4 p.m..

These funds are limited due to past obligations, so please limit your requests between $50,000 and $300,000 to accommodate more than one project per calendar year and note that the average project award amount has historically been approximately $200,000. The scoring rubric favors proposals from institutions that have not recently received funds.

Per Iowa Code, each agency is allocated a percentage of the fund based on the following: Iowa DNR (45.5%), Board of Regents (30%), Iowa DHS (6.5%), Iowa Department of Education (6%), Iowa DOC (5.5%), National Guard of Iowa (4%), State Fair Board (2%), and Iowa DAS Capitol Complex (0.5%).

For more information, please contact  Bureau of Community Colleges & Postsecondary Readiness Education Program Consultant Dr. Jeff Fletcher at jeffrey.fletcher@iowa.gov.
