Renew your Certificates online now using a credit card or electronic check in our IDNR Operator Certification Database.

Instructions for online renewal:

  • Go to our online database home page at https://programs.iowadnr.gov/opcertweb
  • Choose Pay for Certificate/Renewal Fees under APPLY/REGISTER-LOGIN REQUIRED. At this point you will be asked to LOG IN to your account.
  • Once logged in you will choose Pay for Certificate/Renewal Fees under APPLY/REGISTER
  • Search and select your individual fees either by your Operator ID# or Name.
  • If you have no fees waiting to be paid, this means we do not have the required continuing education hours on file. Please contact us at opcertcustomersupport@dnr.iowa.gov.
  • Once you pay your renewal fee, your online certificate will immediately reflect the new expiration date of June 30, 2027.
  • If you pay your renewal fee(s) online, that is all you need to do to renew. The DNR does NOT need any other paperwork or forms if you pay online.

The IDNR will also be mailing out notification letters the first full week of May.

Reminders:

  • Renewal fee must be paid and processed online or paper copy including the appropriate fee must be postmarked by June 30, 2025.
  • If you do not complete the renewal process, you will be sent notice of the termination of your certificate(s).

Continuing Education Renewal Requirements:

If you earned Continuing Education hours that are not listed online, please email opcertcustomersupport@dnr.iowa.gov  to discuss submittal options.  If you did not earn enough CEUs, your certificate will expire on June 30, 2025.  In order to recertify you will be required to retest.  The retesting process requires you to complete an exam application, pay all applicable certification fees and meet all current eligibility requirements.

In order to renew on June 30, 2025, you were required to earn the amount of CEUs required by the Certificate(s) you held on April 1, 2023.  If you are not required to earn CEUs this renewal period, you still pay the appropriate fee in order to renew.

Webinar: Addressing Contamination Incidents in RRAs and ERPs

May 27, 10:00-11:00AM

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is hosting a webinar to help community water systems (CWS) learn how to address contamination incidents in their risk and resilience assessments (RRAs) and emergency response plans (ERPs).

America's Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA) section 2013 revised Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) section 1433 and requires CWSs serving more than 3,300 people to prepare (or revise) and certify RRAs and ERPs to EPA by specified deadlines every five years. Five-year recertification deadlines are upon us, with deadlines occurring throughout 2025 and 2026. Intentional contamination is one type of malevolent act that CWSs may want to address in their RRA and ERP. In this webinar, EPA will provide examples of how CWSs can address contamination incidents in their RRA and ERP.
