CONGRATULATIONS Congratulations to IPERS and DOT on your successful website launches! We've launched our final DX website project. IGOV and Iowa.gov were the first sites launched in January 2023, followed by 49 additional sites - 44 DX sites including DX Training, four marketing platform sites, and three testing sites. Congratulations to everyone involved for your hard work and dedication to this extraordinary effort.

CURRENT ENHANCEMENTS

New and Updated Training and Videos

New and updated training and videos have been added to the DX Training site. You can find recordings of past Content Manager Meetings along with corresponding agendas and topics covered. Many training pages have been updated with the latest how-to steps. We'll continue to improve and update these pages with the latest information. To find a topic, use the search feature near the top right of every page on the DX Training site.

Expand/Collapse Functionality of Arrows in Proximity Navigation

The functionality of the right-hand 'side' menus has been updated so that clicking on the down arrow shows the child pages in the menu without navigating to the parent page. Clicking on the page title still takes users to the parent page as expected. This allows users to explore the site without leaving their current page. You can see an example in action on the DX Training site.

Editorial Improvement for Authors

Authors were unable to embed Accordions on a basic page with any topics other than 'title' or 'topics.'  Other fields were missing. This has been fixed.

Information About the Upcoming Accessibility Project

Kat Shaw and Nikki Flores from Lullabot are spearheading an initiative to enhance accessibility development on the DX Platform. Last fall we outlined our objective to Lullabot leadership of making further improvements in accessibility.

Why is this happening?

Although we take pride in being ahead of many other platforms, our goal is to excel rather than simply be above average - we are striving for the gold standard. Lullabot has been conducting discovery and scoping to identify areas that require additional focus. This initiative focuses on the pages within your website and includes accessibility and readability. This differs from Todd Petersen’s accessibility project of document remediation and app accessibility.

What do you need to do?

Nothing, as the work will be handled by the Lullabot development teams in collaboration with the DOM DoIT Web Architect team. We’ll be using Acquia Optimize (formerly Monsido) and other accessibility tools to identify improvements. We will provide more updates during upcoming Content Manager meetings.

To add a page that shows a list of locations – first create your individual location content pages. Then you can create a Listing Page for multiple location pages.

How To: Get Rid of Double Quotation Marks Using the Quote Feature

Have you ever copied and pasted text from Microsoft Word to your web page, but there are extra words, quotation marks, or strange formatting not visible in Word? Copied text from Word can sometimes retain hidden formatting. Once you’ve pasted it to your web page, you can highlight the text and click the Tx symbol on the formatting toolbar to remove hidden formatting. Another tip when pasting from Word to your web page is to place your cursor where you want to insert the copied text and right click your mouse. Choose ‘Paste as plain text’ to avoid carrying over any unwanted formatting.

Weekly Office Hours

Need help or have questions? Join our live office hours every Thursday from 1-2 pm. No registration is needed - simply click the live meeting link available on the DX Training page during the scheduled time. Sharean Morishita will be there to assist with troubleshooting, platform refreshers, or any other questions you have.

Accessibility Training

• Creating Accessible Tables - Tuesday, May 6, at 9 a.m. This live training session will focus on techniques for table design and tagging complex data tables with merged or split cells. Register for this training session.
