The DNR Parks, Forests, and Preserves Bureau is seeking motivated natural resource professionals for Park Manager positions at three unique locations in Iowa. If you have a passion for the outdoors, enjoy working independently and appreciate seeing visible results from your efforts, one of these positions might be a great fit for you. We are recruiting for managers at: Beeds Lake State Park, Hampton, Iowa; Nine Eagles State Park, Davis City, Iowa; and Lake Wapello State Park, Drakesville, Iowa. State park managers oversee the daily operation of the park, providing excellent customer service, and promoting Iowa’s natural resources. The successful candidates will be required to live within 30 miles of their assigned state park.

Natural Resources Technician 1

Location: Harpers Ferry, IA

Closing Date: March 25, 2025 - 11:59 PM 

The Iowa DNR Parks, Forests, and Preserves Bureau is currently seeking a Natural Resource Technician to join our team at Yellow River State Forest in northeast Iowa. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about natural resource management, committed to maintaining the health and diversity of the forest, and eager to engage with the public. This position plays a key role assisting the area forester in all aspects of operations. Yellow River State Forest is made up of 8,990 acres of forest, streams and prairies in northeast Iowa's Driftless Area, a landform region with steep and hilly topography. It has two cold-water streams stocked with trout, and is adjacent to the Upper Mississippi River National Fish and Wildlife Refuge and Effigy Mounds National Monument. The area is popular with hunters, anglers, hikers, backpackers, bird watchers, horseback riders, mountain bikers and campers.

Administrative Assistant 2

Location: Des Moines, IA

The Iowa DNR Field Services and Compliance Bureau has a unique and exciting Administrative Assistant 2 position located in Des Moines. This position assists the Animal Feeding Operations (AFO) team with the administration of the Manure Management Plan (MMP) program. The position will be the main contact for MMP submissions, with duties for fee processing, administrative completeness reviews, database entry and tracking of MMP submissions, along with the production of routine reports and data queries.
