Since you are a Registered Apprenticeship Sponsor in the state of Iowa, I wanted to provide you with an important update related to the support of apprenticeship programs statewide. On June 27, 2024, Iowa was designated a State Apprenticeship Agency (SAA) by the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship. As a result, the Iowa Office of Apprenticeship (IOA), has now assumed responsibility over the regulatory duties formerly held by the local U.S. DOL Office of Apprenticeship for Iowa’s Registered Apprenticeship Programs.
The Iowa Office of Apprenticeship looks forward to continuing the partnerships that have been established over the years with U.S. DOL. We are committed to ensuring that the transition of your program from the federal Office of Apprenticeship (OA) to the IOA is as seamless as possible, and that you are aware of how we plan to support programs moving forward.
The Iowa Office of Apprenticeship is housed within Iowa Workforce Development (IWD). IOA, in partnership with IWD, is available to provide the following services to help support your program:
- Training and technical assistance for sponsors, employers, and program partners.
- Outreach and support for career seekers and apprentices.
- Support for programs to increase Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) in programs, as well as an improved focus on innovation across programs and industries.
Our team is dedicated to serving all Registered Apprenticeship stakeholders and further expanding Registered Apprenticeships in Iowa. Mailed copies of this transition letter will be sent to your program’s mailing address listed in RAPIDS. We appreciate your patience as we work through the transition.
