Remembering the Beginning of the Network
Mark Dayton has been a staple with the ICN even before it was an official state agency. He started working with the Network on December 8, 1992, when he was hired by McLeod Telecommunications. He was employee number 11. He was assigned to maintain the Network, which was no small task.
To summarize the ICN impact, hear from Mark about a cute conversation between him and his niece years ago about the beginning of the ICN.

2005 Dewey Readmore Books was granted honorary membership in the Iowa Communications Network after attending multiple meetings at the ICN Room of the Spencer Public Library. He routinely attended meetings, warmed up numerous laps, and never disturbed the vote, earning him the nickname "The Fiber Cat."

2007
In honor of our own hometown heroes, we would like to highlight our Freedom Calls work in 2007. Dick Bartlett worked closely with ICN staff and Captain Andy Ryan of the Iowa National Guard, deployed in Iraq, to bring the program to Iowans through the ICN. Andy, also an ICN employee, had the chance to participate in an Operation Hometown Link video conference with his family and said the experience was incredible. Read about Operation Hometown Link.
