The Iowa Department of Human Rights (DHR) brings strength to Iowa's rich heritage.  Our three divisions - Community Action Agencies, Community Advocacy and Services, and Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning - work to reduce cultural, social, and economic barriers to opportunities for Iowans to succeed.

Iowa Women's Hall of Fame Nominations Open 

The Iowa Women's Hall of Fame honors women who make history for their contributions in a multitude of fields like education, arts, science, sports, and public service. If you would like to nominate someone for the 2023 Iowa Women's Hall of Fame, please fill out the applicable nomination form with supporting materials and send them to women@iowa.gov by April 1, 2023.

Medicaid Continuous Coverage Protections

What Advocates for Older Adults Need to Know

Advocates play a crucial role in ensuring people dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid do not face disruptions due to improper Medicaid terminations by working with state officials and partner organizations. A new fact sheet, Unwinding Medicaid Continuous Coverage Protections: Implications and Advocacy for Individuals Dually Eligible for Medicare and Medicaid, provides information about the “unwinding” process and identifies steps that advocates can take with their states and partners to address the specific challenges facing dual eligible individuals during this transition.
