At the end of October 2022, the Iowa DNR rolled out the Iowa Lead Service Line Inventory Template. This template will be used by all public water supply systems that are classified as community water systems (CWSs) and non-transient non-community (NTNC) water systems which are required to submit lead service line inventories to the Iowa DNR by October 16, 2024. *Note: This is the same training that was offered in October 2022, November 2022, and January 2023.

PUBLIC WEBINAR MEETING DETAILS
EPA will host two identical webinars on February 22 and 23, 2023 to provide public water systems (PWSs), States, and other interested stakeholders with information on accessing and communicating UCMR 5 monitoring results. The presentation will review the reporting requirements and data review functionality in EPA’s web-based Safe Drinking Water Accession and Review System (SDWARS) for large (i.e., those serving more than 10,000 people) and small (i.e., those serving 10,000 or fewer people) PWSs. The presentation will also discuss the plan for communicating results from small PWSs, how the public can access the UCMR 5 results in the National Contaminant Occurrence Database, and provide additional resources developed by EPA and other stakeholders to communicate results. RULE BACKGROUND
On December 27, 2021, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published UCMR 5 to establish nationwide monitoring for 29 per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and lithium in drinking water served by public water systems (PWSs) (https://www.epa.gov/dwucmr/fifth-unregulated-contaminant-monitoring-rule). The rule requires participating PWSs to collect drinking water samples from 2023-2025 and report final results through 2026.

The Fourth Quarter Update to the State Fiscal Year 2023 Intended Use Plans (IUP) for the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) and the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) are now available for public review and comment. The IUPs cover the CWSRF and DWSRF base programs for the period of July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2023, and the Annexes cover the Federal Fiscal Year 2022 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) General Supplemental Funds. These plans can be found on www.IowaSRF.com at the following locations:
Online and virtual training opportunities are being created and offered through community colleges, state industry associations, national industry associations, EPA, and other state industry partners. All operators should continue to monitor their emails and the Training Calendar on the Iowa DNR Operator Certification Database.
