Northwest District Office Hours This Week

Tom Keyser

Tomorrow September 20th

Join Northwest District Office Hours tomorrow September 20 (10:30-11:30AM, ZOOM link below)  We'll have a guest star tomorrow: State Library Consultant Tom Keyser will explain how you can digitize local history materials at your library.  Tom will be presenting two webinars--one this week on September 21 and one next week on September 28-- titled "Strategic Treasure Hunting Parts 1 & 2."  (Register in IALearns ...)

So Tom will have great information to relay about digitizing local history materials, complete with the advantage of borrowing a scanner and laptop from the State Library to aid in the process.  As always, we'll have plenty of time to discuss topics that are top-of-mind for you.

In October: State Library Learning Circuit

Learning Circuit

In-Person Statewide October 20th

In October, NW Office Hours will only happen on Tuesday October 18 because: the State Library's Learning Circuit lands on Thursday October 20.
Back this fall as an in-person event, we're planning a one-day hybrid workshop on the topic of emergency preparedness with local and national speakers.

Tornados, fires, floods, and derechos can wreak havoc on community infrastructure and city services.  Public libraries have a proud track record of serving as information centers when emergencies happen.  Samantha Bouwers writes All communities were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, not to mention other disasters or trying events that have impacted many of us. This day-long event is designed to get you thinking about how your library could respond if the worst happens.”

If you haven’t already registered for the State Library Learning Circuit, there’s still time to do so.  You'll find a Learning Circuit workshop held in six locations.  Our continuing education webpage shows those locations and the day’s agenda.

Registration Information

This reminder: the Learning Circuit registration is being handled through Seamless Docs because there is a $15.00 registration feeClick below to register, deadline is October 13. The fee can be paid online with a credit card or e-check.  If you registered, but did not pay electronically, paper checks will be accepted by mail but must be received by October 13th ...
