The Iowa Department of Human Rights (DHR) brings strength to Iowa's rich heritage.  Our three divisions - Community Action Agencies, Community Advocacy and Services, and Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning - work to reduce cultural, social, and economic barriers to opportunities for Iowans to succeed.


We Are Hiring!

  • Rehabilitation Associate will aid youth with disabilities, who are in the juvenile court system, as they transition to their home community from group care facilities. Application closes September 8.  
  • Justice Systems Analysts (JSA) conduct a variety of high-level justice-related research, evaluation, and data analysis of criminal and juvenile justice practices, policies, and services.  Application closes September 5.

  • Budget Analyst conducts a variety of fiscal and budgeting tasks for the Division of Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning.  Application closes September 6.


Iowa DD Council Tip Sheet 

The Iowa DD Council has developed an Inclusive Communication and Discussions tip sheet to help boards and commissions make their meetings more inclusive. The Iowa DD Council is also available to provide technical assistance and education to boards and commissions that may have questions or need more information. 

The Tip Sheet is available through the Iowa DD Council. 


Arc of East Central Iowa Family Resource Guide

The Arc of East Central Iowa has released a Family Resource Guide to support individuals who have been diagnosed with a disability. The guide provides a comprehensive breakdown of information, resources and tools to support individuals as well as their families, caregivers, guardians, friends and community members.
