Looking to celebrate surviving Summer 2021? Want a chance to hang out and chat with your fellow youth librarians? Angie is hosting two more Pop YS Pop-In Office Hours for a chance for you to connect, chat, and even say goodbye before she leaves. This is an opportunity to discuss anything and everything on your mind, and just have some community and hangout time with other librarians from across the state. We would love to hear summer round-ups, what worked, what didn't, what you learned and what you can't wait to start in Fall.
This will also be a chance for you to say goodbye to Angie and get some State Library updates on Youth Services before her last day on August 10th. These sessions are not for CE and will not be recorded - it's just a chance for us to get together, talk about youth services, and offer each other insight and support. Angie is hosting two sessions so please drop in on whichever one works better for your schedule.

There's still time to register for Randy Ribay's second 2021 All Iowa Reads Virtual Author Visit! Join us on Monday, August 9th from 5:00-6:00 to discuss his book The Patron Saints of Nothing and invite all your patrons. This event is free and open to the public and is the third in our series of virtual visits from the authors of our 2021 All Iowa Reads titles. This is a great chance to add virtual author programming, especially for teens. You can register as a library or invite your patrons to register on their own.
Are you a new youth services librarian? Congrats on making it through summer at the library! Isn't it fun?
At the end of 2020, Angie created a cohort for librarians new to working in youth services. We met several times, supporting and sharing with each other as everyone found their feet in their jobs. We took the summer off but are going to get together for one last meeting before Angie leaves.
This cohort will continue to meet when a new Youth Services Consultant is hired but this is a chance to wrap up summer and build some connections to last until that hiring is official so if you can join us, please do!
If you have been in a primarily youth services position at a public library for less than 18 months, we want you to join our supergroup! We meet up to discuss how we can best support and learn from each other. We discuss challenges, all the stuff they didn't tell you in the job interview, and basically just get to know each other and talk about working in youth services in such a wild time.
