Effective immediately, the Iowa VFC Program will allow VFC providers to begin ordering two new vaccines, MenQuadfi and Vaxelis.
MenQuadfi (Sanofi Pasteur) is a meningococcal ACWY Conjugate vaccine (MenACWY-TT).
Vaxelis (Merck and Sanofi Pasteur) is a combination Diphtheria and Tetanus Toxoids and Acellular Pertussis, Inactivated Poliovirus, Haemophilus influenzae Type b Conjugate, and Hepatitis B vaccine (DTaP-IPV-Hib-HepB).
When placing an order for the new vaccines, please review the clinic’s vaccine inventory to identify all other vaccines needed. VFC providers should continue to place vaccine orders consistent with their economic order quantity (monthly, bimonthly or quarterly) and monitor existing inventory to ensure VFC vaccine is not wasted or allowed to expire.
