A fishing license makes a great gift for the holidays. You'll need the recipient's social security number AND birthdate. Or you can call the DNR customer service desk at 515-725-8200 for help looking up a person's license information to make the purchase.

Licenses purchased for 2020 expire on Jan. 10.

Go to our Go Outdoors Iowa online licensing system to buy your paddlefish license. You must also have a valid Iowa fishing license.
You can buy up to two tags – one from now to Dec. 31 and an additional tag from Jan. 1 to Jan. 7, or two tags if you didn’t buy one in December.
The license with a tag(s) and instructions will be mailed to your home address in mid-January. Be sure to hold onto this tag for the Feb. 1 – April 30 season.
