All your mobile devices including laptop, smartphones, and tablets are always within reach. These devices make it easy to connect to the world around you, but they can also contain a lot of info about you and your friends and family, like your contacts, photos, video, location and health and financial data. It’s important to use your mobile device safely and securely. Below are some safety tips.
PROTECT IT:
-
Secure your devices: use strong passwords or touch ID features to lock your devices
-
Think before you app: prior to downloading the app, review what type of information the app is going to collect and share
-
Get savvy about wifi hotspots: be cautious of public wireless networks and hotspots and remove the connection after you’ve finished joining a Wi-Fi network. Good rule of thumb is to always assume someone is monitoring your data whenever you use public wifi connection
KEEP A CLEAN MACHINE:
-
Keep your mobile devices and apps up to date: have the most up-to-date apps, security software, web browser, operating system, is the best defense against online threats, malware, and viruses.
-
Delete apps when done: periodically review apps you downloaded and if you no longer need them, delete them
