NCSBN COVID-19 Resources
NCSBN has developed COVID-19 courses for students, new graduates, nurses returning to the workforce and those who are interested in learning more about the COVID-19 pandemic. The courses are posted on our International Center for Regulatory Scholarship (ICRS) website. They are online, self-paced and free of charge. Three of them provide CE credit. The courses include: Epidemiology and Modes of Transmission of COVID-19, Care of the Patient with COVID-19, Legal and Ethical Issues related to COVID-19, and Hoaxes to Avoid during the COVID-19 Pandemic. There are also additional resources such as how to don and doff PPE. The courses can be accessed through CHROME at the following website: https://catalog.icrsncsbn.org/
Wrapping up National Nurses Month

The World Health Organization deemed 2020 as the Year of the Nurse and Midwife - so the celebration doesn't yet end!
Follow the World Health Organization website for more ways to participate and keep spreading the message about the important work of nurses and midwives. See this link: https://www.who.int/news-room/campaigns/year-of-the-nurse-and-the-midwife-2020
Iowa Nurses Association - Nurse 2 Nurse Line
In response to the critical need to support front line healthcare workers, the Iowa Nurses Association (INA) has established a Nurse 2 Nurse talk line. Nurse volunteers can be reached 24 hours a day by calling (515) 650-2295. You will be prompted to state your first name and then be connected with a nurse volunteer. This service is available to ALL Iowa nurses; not just INA members.
Board Joint Statement - May 5, 2020
The Iowa Boards of Pharmacy, Dental, Nursing, and Medicine recognize that during this time of crisis and world-wide COVID-19 pandemic, licensed professionals of Iowa are struggling to live and work each day. Particularly those professionals struggling with substance abuse or mental health concerns. Consistency is a part of recovery and progress and we understand that may be difficult right now.
Your health and safety is important to us. We want to remind licensees that each board has a confidential monitoring program available for you to self-report to if your health is affecting your ability to practice safely. For those that are already a participant in these programs, we encourage you to continue down the path of recovery, even during these tumultuous times. For those of you that are not part of our programs but find yourself struggling, we encourage you to reach out and let us help.
