Azaree Shakshak, a Roosevelt High School student in Des Moines, shared her gifts and talents with the Office on the Status of African-Americans this summer thanks to the Oakridge Summer Youth Employment Program. She plays soccer, Violin, and the Double Base. She is active in Digital Drawing Business, Interact Club, Sisters for Success, and President of the Sudanese Youth Committee as well as finding time to volunteer. While at the Department of Human Rights, Ms. Shakshak gleaned there is a lot of community advocacy work done by the offices and every individual person who works in Community Advocacy and Services (CAS) plays a very important role and everything they accomplish impacts the workforce incredibly. We wish her a prosperous school year! |
