Media Advisory: Iowa Corrections and Iowa State Patrol to Conduct Joint Training Exercises in Clarinda
(CLARINDA) –The Iowa Department of Corrections and the Iowa Department of Public Safety: Iowa State Patrol invite members of the media to attend the Department of Corrections and Iowa State Patrol Joint Emergency Response Training in Clarinda, IA. The tactical training/exercises will take place the week of May 14th, with special time-slots made available for media that would like to attend. Details on specific times that media is invited to capture footage/photos and conduct interviews related to this training event are below.
Event Details: Tuesday, May 14 and Wednesday, May 15, 2019 Clarinda Correctional Facility Campus (primarily in/around the retired Mental Health Institute structures) 2000 N 16th St, Clarinda IA (media please check-in near main MHI entrance)
Estimated Corrections/Trooper Attendance: Approx. 100 staff per day; up to 300 over the course of the week-long training event.
Media outlets interested in attending the event are encouraged to notify Cord Overton via email or phone at: cord.overton@iowa.gov prior to arrival for planning purposes, however all credentialed media will be allowed to film and interviews will be arranged if they arrive during the set media-availability times. All media-related equipment will be allowed around the designated media zones at the training, which have been pre-selected to provide for ample viewing of training while maintaining safety of members of the media.
