The Board is excited to announce that beginning November 1, 2018, most business licenses and all individual licenses and registrations may begin renewing licenses online at https://iowa.igovsolution.com/iboponline/. These include Pharmacists, CSA-individuals and businesses, Certified Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Support Persons, Outsourcing Facilities, and Pharmacies. Online renewals require fee payments by credit card.

Courtesy renewal notifications will be emailed to licensees and registrants prior to the expiration of the license and/or registration. If no email address is on file with the Board, a written renewal notification will be sent to the current address on file. Failure of the licensee or registrant to receive the notice does not relieve the individual or business of the responsibility for renewing the license/registration prior to its expiration.

Although discouraged, renewal applications will still be accepted through the mail with a check or money order. Application forms can be found on our website at: https://pharmacy.iowa.gov/application-forms. Once mailed, applicants’ licenses/registrations can be verified online at: https://iowa.igovsolution.com/iboponline/. Application receipt and status checks will not be provided by email or verbally over the phone during peak processing times including November 1 to March 31 and April 15 to July 31. Please allow at least three weeks for Board staff to process applications that are received through the mail.

Watch for additional updates regarding online applications for new licenses and registrations.

Our Board is comprised of five pharmacist members and two public members. The Board is responsible for regulating the practice of pharmacy and the legal distribution and dispensing of prescription drugs and precursor substances throughout Iowa. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, licensing, renewal, and discipline of pharmacists, pharmacies, drug wholesalers, pharmacist-interns, pharmacy technicians, and persons or businesses involved in the distribution of controlled substances in Iowa, and continuing education for pharmacists.
