Civic Saturday

Join us for Civic Saturday in 

Des Moines

Citizen University is a national platform for fostering responsible and empowered citizenship through activation, communication, and education. Via CU, Civic Saturday is an initiative that originated out of Washington State by Eric Liu and is now going nationwide in an effort to promote civic dialogue and coming together as a community around civic ideals. 

This free event is taking place on Saturday, May 5th from 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM at Grand View University Student Center, Speed Lyceum, in Des Moines. Get your free ticket.  Doors open at 9:30 AM for the social impact fair prior to the program beginning at 10:30 AM.

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

Upcoming Events/Seminars/Conferences

The first ever Midwest Title IX Summit will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny, Iowa. This Summit will analyze the issues around Title IX for K-12 schools, higher education, and community organizations. Questions surround how to ensure schools and colleges are free from sexual violence including harassment and assault as well as creating an environment free from sex discrimination.

8th Annual Psychological Trauma and Juvenile Justice Conference

The Psychological Trauma and Juvenile Justice Conference is an annual event for professionals who work with children and families. The conference meets requirements for the approval of CEU credits for social workers, mental health counselors, psychologists and other related fields. The event will focus on the impact on the mind, body, behavior and community, and will feature four speakers.

CareGivers Conference

Cultivating Caregivers: Iowa CareGivers 2018 Conference

The 2018 Iowa CareGivers Conference is an educational experience built specifically for Certified Nursing Assistants, Care Workers, and Home Care, Health, and other Aids. The conference, which will be held June 4-5 in Altoona, is meant to open the minds and hearts of those who wish to acquire new tools to be the best caregiver possible, and to grow and nourish the passion for caregiving.
