Des Moines IowaWORKS Center Offers Extended Hours in 2018
DES MOINES – The IowaWORKS Center in Des Moines will be open until 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
The extended hours are designed to accommodate people who are unable to visit the center during normal business hours. The center's new hours are 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Monday and Friday; 8:30 a.m. -6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday; and 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Jennifer Reha, Central District Manager, said the center will be offering new workshops that will be offered during the evening hours.
"We're developing new workshops to target people who are working full-time and want help finding different or better employment," Reha said. "Many people make it a goal to get a better job at the beginning of the year. We hope our extended hours will make it easier for customers to benefit from our wide variety of services and workshops."
The center moved in November to its new location at 200 Army Post Road. The new space allows the staff to deliver enhanced services to job seekers and businesses. Job seeker services include career counseling, skill upgrades and training, and help creating resumers and cover letters and preparing for interviews.
See an online calendar of classes offered in the Des Moines location. For more information, call 515-281-9619 or visit iowaworks.gov.
