If you know a friend or family member who wants to take hunter education, several openings are available in classes across Iowa this summer.
Hunter education classroom courses are offered by knowledgeable, certified volunteer instructors, along with DNR conservation officers. Courses typically include two to three sessions, with a total time commitment of 10-15 hours. A student must attend all sessions and pass the final exam to receive certification.
Iowa law requires anyone born after Jan. 1, 1972 to be certified in hunter education before being eligible to purchase an Iowa hunting license. Here is a listing of Iowa courses with openings this summer.
