The statutory mission of the Iowa Department of Revenue is to serve
Iowans and support state government by collecting all taxes required by
law, but no more.
In addition to the emotional and other legal impacts of divorce,
numerous tax related issues can be affected as well. To provide general guidance, the Department
has created a new publication titled “Tax
Implications of Divorce.” This
publication outlines potential issues for taxpayers to consider and discuss
with their attorneys during the divorce process.
