ANNUAL STATE FCS CONFERENCE IN JUNE!!!
Hello! I wanted to make sure you all saw the information for the Iowa Family and Consumer Sciences Educator's (IFCSE) Conference that will be held June 11 - 13 in Ames this summer. If you only go to one conference a year, this is THE ONE!!! Network with other FCS educators, learn about some new initiatives, find some excellent resources! All packed into three filled days of professional development at its best!
Please find the attached Conference brochure, Award nominations, and BEST applications! Our State Program Management dollars help support this excellent conference and you will note that day one has some exciting sessions tied to the CTE Redesign legislation that will help you define FCS as a part of Human Services and do some curriculum work that will guide us all as we work toward mandatory program approval in the next few years.
Perkins dollars, as well as the Regional Planning Partnership dollars are sources to look for funding for this professional development opportunity. To register, go to this link!

This is your chance to help spread the word about the great things and people that help make Family and Consumer Sciences strong in your communities and across the state. Please be sure to send in nominations for our state awards. Since IFCSE is an affiliate of Iowa ACTE, all winners move on to the Iowa ACTE state awards with a chance to move on to regional and national levels of competition (dollars awarded to national winners!).
In addition, be sure to fill out the BEST (Belong, Excel, Study, and Travel) application for recognition of all of the hard work you do within your community and profession. You will find the nomination and application forms attached to this email for both!
Conference coordinator Kristie Kuhse has done an excellent job of combining CTE Redesign with content area sessions, Iowa State University campus program tours, and an opportunity to gain some extra knowledge in FCS/STEM connections by incorporating the ISU Biotechnology Outreach workshop. |
Please check this last opportunity out at this link where you not only will gain some knowledge and skills dealing with science concepts that can be incorporated into your classes, but also can earn professional development or graduate credits AND recieve a stipend for your time and travel!
