Renewal is coming!
The Plumbing and Mechanical Systems Board office is busy preparing for the upcoming license renewal period. To assist you in preparing for license renewal as well, the board office will be sending more frequent bulletins that include renewal tips.
As a reminder, if your license does not expire until June 30, 2017, it cannot be renewed at this time. Renewal notices will be mailed approximately 60 days prior to license expiration and will include instructions on how to complete the renewal process.
Finding Continuing Education Courses
Did you know that the board website has a Training Calendar with a list of upcoming CEU courses? Visit http://idph.iowa.gov/pmsb/training and click the link at the top of that page to open the calendar. Once the calendar is open, upcoming courses are displayed by date and by hovering your mouse over the course title, the course time, location, and course content areas will display. You can also click on the course title to find further details about the course, including a phone number, email address, or website to register for the course. Please note that not all courses or instructors submit information to have their classes posted to the board training calendar. To find other courses in your area, contact your local trade unions, supply houses, community colleges, or other approved instructors.
If you are an instructor or course sponsor and would like to have your courses posted to our training calendar, please submit a "Schedule of Courses Notification Form" available from the "Continuing Education" link on the board website.
Online Training Courses
Did you know that up to half of the CEU hours required for renewal can be taken via online or electronic courses? For example, if you have a single license you need to obtain a total of eight hours of CEUs for renewal and up to four of these hours can be through online courses. The courses must be board-approved and can be in either safety, code, or trade. Visit the "Training Calendar" link for the complete list of board-approved online courses. The online training list includes the course name, provider contact information and website, and categories each course is approved for (e.g. safety, code, trade, etc.).
