The statutory mission of the Iowa Department of Revenue is to serve
Iowans and support state government by collecting all taxes required by
law, but no more.
The 1 cent
per gallon Environmental Protection Charge (EPC) on petroleum products
deposited into certain, primarily underground, storage tanks was set to expire
on June 30, 2016. Recent legislation (HF 2464) has delayed the expiration
date. The EPC is now scheduled to be repealed on December 31, 2016.
Those
licensed to collect and remit the EPC must continue doing so through the end of
2016.
