Section of Welch Avenue Closed for Reconstruction
AMES, Iowa – Welch Avenue from Chamberlain Street to Hunt Street has closed for removal and replacement of pavement and underground utility improvements. This is anticipated to take two to three months. Pedestrian access will remain throughout the project. A temporary chain-link fence will provide a safe pedestrian route through the construction zone. Motorists should use caution when traveling in the area and allow extra travel time.
The City of Ames has contracted with Con-Struct for this project, which includes replacement of water main, storm and sanitary sewers, and street and sidewalk reconstruction.
