Utility Customer Service Closing Early for Training on Jan. 15
AMES, Iowa – City of Ames Utility Customer Service, located on the first floor of City Hall, 515 Clark Ave., will close early on Wednesday, Jan. 15. 2025, to allow employees to attend training. The office will be open from 7 a.m. to noon. Normal operating hours will resume on Thursday, Jan. 16.
“It is important that all our employees are up-to-date on required training, but we also know some customers like to come to the counter to pay their bills,” said Utility Accounts Supervisor John Odenweller. “We hope getting the word out early will help our customers make plans to visit at a different time.”
One of the easiest ways to ensure utility bills are paid each month on time is to use the City of Ames direct debit service. It’s free, and the bill amount is debited monthly from the customer’s bank account.
Additionally, customers are encouraged to use the City website to start, stop, or transfer utilities. Online bill pay is also available through a third-party vendor and includes a convenience fee. The address is www.AmesUtilities.com or look for the green “Online Payments” button at www.CityOfAmes.org.
