Section of Clark Avenue to Close Thursday
AMES, Iowa – Clark Avenue, from Fifth Street to Sixth Street, will close on Thursday, Oct. 31, weather permitting, for spot repairs to the northbound lane. There will be no vehicle access to the street or parking spaces. This section of street is directly in front of City Hall, 515 Clark Ave. The sidewalk on the west side of Clark Avenue will remain open for access to the front entrance of City Hall.
The utility bill payment drop box will temporarily relocate to the west parking lot behind City Hall and move back to Clark Avenue when the repair work is completed.
During the street closing, the doors at the main entrance to City Hall will remain open. Metered parking is available along Fifth Street and north of Sixth Street across from the Ames City Auditorium.
Repairs to Clark Avenue, which include pavement removal, will be performed by Henkel Construction’s subcontractor Con-Struct. Pavement replacement will be completed by Henkel Construction’s subcontractor Caselli Construction and is planned for Friday, Nov. 1. Clark Avenue will reopen after the new concrete has cured. It is anticipated the street will open the week of Nov. 4.
