NR 09-02-26 (Lane closure scheduled for portions of Kapaʻa Sept. 8 to Sept. 11)

KAPAʻA – The County of Kauaʻi Department of Public Works and its contractor Kennedy Jenks are announcing periodic one-lane closures on County roads in Kapaʻa from Tuesday, Sept. 8, through Friday, Sept. 11, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting.

The impacted roads are Lehua Street, Inia Street, Kukui Street, Ulu Street, and Ohia Road as shown in the figure below. This work is part of a multi-week project to clean and inspect the sewer collection system. The project will continue through Oct. 15. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times.

To reduce impacts on families and students, crews will not begin work near Kapaʻa Middle School until 9 a.m., after morning drop-off, and will move away from the school as the day progresses to minimize delays during afternoon pick-up. No work will take place on Olohena Road on Thursday, Sept. 10.

Please make the appropriate arrangements to accommodate the necessary lane closures, use alternate routes, and allow extra time to get to destinations.

Flaggers will be positioned at the work zone to direct traffic. Please exercise caution when traveling through the work zone and follow posted traffic control signs, cones, and directions from flaggers.
