Single-lane closure scheduled on Kahiliholo Road for culvert repairs July 27 to Nov. 30
KĪLAUEA – The Department of Public Works and its contractor, Kaikor Construction Company, Inc., are announcing a single-lane closure along a portion of Kahiliholo Road for culvert repair work, weekdays, from July 27 to Nov. 30. All work is weather permitting.
The lane closure is necessary to remove metal culverts crossing Kahiliholo Road and replace them with two concrete box culverts. The project also includes replacing approximately 300 feet of guardrail.
There will be no full road closure. One lane will remain open to traffic at all times along an approximately 200-foot section of the roadway, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Please make the appropriate arrangements to accommodate the necessary traffic modifications and allow extra time to get to destinations. Motorists should reduce speed to 5 mph and yield to oncoming traffic when traveling through the project site.
