KPD Celebrates Graduation of 103rd Police Recruit Class
LĪHU‘E – Four new officers officially joined the ranks of the Kauaʻi Police Department (KPD) on Monday, July 13, following the graduation of the 103rd Police Recruit Class.
Tim Atlas, Dylan Balaan, Henrique Motta, and Ronson Nakoa-Moniz were sworn in during a ceremony at the Kauaʻi War Memorial Convention Hall, surrounded by family, friends, and community members. The graduation marked the completion of six months of intensive academy training and the beginning of their careers in law enforcement.
“Today we recognize the hard work of four individuals who have chosen to serve the people of Kauaʻi,” said Chief of Police Rudy Tai. “This profession requires courage, compassion, and a commitment to our community. We are proud of the work these officers have put in and excited to see the positive impact they will make. Congratulations, and welcome to the KPD ‘ohana.”
The four officers will now begin field training alongside experienced members of KPD, applying academy training to real-world situations. During this phase, the officers will respond to calls for service and continue building their skills through hands-on experience and mentorship.
