June 24, 5 p.m., County of Kaua‘i, Līhuʻe vehicle fire
The Kaua‘i Fire Department continues to respond to a reported multiple vehicle fire in Līhuʻe near the intersection of Kanakolu Street and Ehiku Street.
The Kaua‘i Fire Department advises the public to immediately cease all recreational drone activity in the area due to safety concerns with Air 1.
According to a preliminary report, an approximately 50 foot by 50 foot area of debris and metal was engulfed in flames, causing the heavy smoke in the area.
There are no threats to nearby structures and no reports of injuries.
The fire was reported Wednesday, June 24, at 2:15 p.m.
Response
According to a preliminary report, crews have the fire under control. Firefighters will remain on scene to continue to mop up the scene.
Assets
Personnel with the Līhuʻe fire station, Kalāheo fire station, Air 1, Airport Rescue and Fire Fighters, and the Kaua'i Police Department are responding to this incident.
The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency is also monitoring the incident.
Road closures
Residents and visitors are advised to avoid the area as crews continue to work to in the area.
