8:35 a.m., March 8, Refuse Transfer Facilities Update
Below is the current service status of Kaua‘i’s refuse transfer stations and the Kekaha Landfill as of 8:35 a.m., March 8.
Hanalei Refuse Transfer Station (NEW UPDATE)
Current Status: Due to equipment issues, the Hanalei Refuse Transfer Station will not be accepting bagged refuse until further notice, pending repairs. All other services are available.
Regular Operating Hours: 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Green waste is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: 5-3751 Kuhio Hwy, Princeville
Kapa'a Refuse Transfer Station
Current Status: Green waste collection is now open. The facility will reopen in phases beginning March 12, initially accepting bagged trash and offering recycling services for scrap metal, appliances, used oil, tires, and propane tanks. Services for loose mixed waste and green waste will be introduced as remaining improvements are completed. Hours are 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Additionally, residential bagged trash will be accepted Friday to Sunday at the Kapa‘a Base Yard located at 4900 Kahau Road, in Kapa‘a, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The last day of additional bagged trash collection at the Kapa‘a Base Yard is Sunday, March 8.

Līhu‘e Refuse Transfer Station
Current Status: All services are available.
Regular Operating Hours: 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Location: 3450 Ahukini Road, Līhu‘e
Hanapēpē Refuse Transfer Station
Current Status: All services are available.
Regular Operating Hours: 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Location: 4380 Lele Road, Hanapēpē
Kekaha Landfill
Current Status: All services are available.
Regular Operating Hours: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Closed for lunch from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. Location: 6900 Kaumuali‘i Hwy, Kekaha
