KFD invites the public to Community Wildfire Protection Plan workshops
LĪHU‘E – The Kaua‘i Fire Department invites the public to participate in a series of upcoming Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) workshops taking place across the island in early March.
These community meetings are an important opportunity for residents, landowners, and stakeholders to help prioritize wildfire safety actions, identify mitigation projects, and strengthen coordination between the community and partner agencies. Public participation is critical as the County works collaboratively to enhance wildfire preparedness, reduce wildfire risk, and protect lives, property, and natural resources across Kauaʻi.
The CWPP provides a framework for communities to actively engage in wildfire planning and prevention. Input gathered during these workshops will help shape strategies to improve defensible space, emergency access, fuel reduction efforts, public education, and interagency coordination.
Workshops will be held on the following dates and locations:
- March 4: Waimea Neighborhood Center, Waimea, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- March 5: Anahola Neighborhood Center, Anahola, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- March 10: Virtual via Zoom, 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., bitly/KauaiCWPPVirtual
- March 11: Kōloa Neighborhood Center, Kōloa, 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- March 12: Anaina Hou, Kīlauea, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
All community members are encouraged to attend and provide their input. By working together, Kauaʻi can build a stronger, more resilient island in the face of increasing wildfire threats.
