Finance Department celebrates grand opening of Westside motor vehicle registration kiosk
HANAPĒPĒ — County officials marked the grand opening today of a new self-service motor vehicle registration kiosk located at Western Motor Service in Hanapēpē, expanding convenient access to DMV services for Westside residents.
The kiosk, located at 1-3680 Kaumuali‘i Highway, allows customers to renew their motor vehicle registrations quickly and easily without traveling to central County offices. The project is a partnership between the County of Kaua‘i, Western Motor Service, and Neumo.
“This is about showing up for our Westside community. From the bottom of my heart, I am deeply grateful to the Kaiakapu ‘ohana and Western Motor Service for housing this kiosk in their place of business,” said Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami. “Mahalo to our team, including our Department of Finance and the Division for Motor Vehicles, for bringing this need to our Westside residents. With this service, we’re making it easier for everyone to meet everyday needs close to home and strengthening partnerships that help our communities thrive.”
Customers may use the touchscreen kiosk to renew their motor vehicle registrations by entering their license plate number or scanning the barcode on their motor vehicle renewal notice. Debit and credit cards are accepted, and upon completion of the transaction, the kiosk immediately prints the vehicle registration and license plate tabs.
The Hanapēpē kiosk joins other self-service motor vehicle registration kiosks located at Princeville Foodland, Kapa‘a Safeway, Līhu‘e Safeway, and the Kapulē Līhu‘e DMV lobby, further expanding convenient access to motor vehicle registration services across the island.
“County officials thanked Western Motor Service for hosting the kiosk and Neumo for providing the technology that makes the service possible,” said Deputy Finance Director Michelle Lizama. “The new kiosk reflects the County’s ongoing efforts to modernize services, improve customer experience, and expand access to government services across the island.”
Westside residents are encouraged to take advantage of the new self-service option for motor vehicle registration renewals.
