Search continues for missing swimmer at Kahili Beach
KīLAUEA — First responders continue to search for a missing swimmer at Kahili Beach in Kīlauea.
According to a preliminary report, first responders received a report of two distressed swimmers in the water shortly after 12:15 p.m.
Personnel with the Hanalei Fire Station, Rescue 3 aboard Air 1, Kaua‘i Police Department, American Medical Response, U.S. Coast Guard, and State officials responded to the incident.
First responders arrived on scene and safely brought one individual back to shore. Upon arriving on shore, the individual, who sustained a laceration to the leg, was transferred to American Medical Response for further medical care.
First responders continue searching for the second individual, who remains missing.
The search remains ongoing. Additional updates will be provided as information becomes available.
