A previous version of this news release incorrectly stated all services were available at the Kekaha Landfill. The Kekaha Landfill will remain closed until further notice due to inclement weather conditions that may impact site access and safe operations.
Below is the current service status of Kaua‘i’s refuse transfer stations and the Kekaha Landfill as of 2:10 p.m., December 19.
Hanalei Refuse Transfer Station
Current Status: All services are available.
Regular Operating Hours: 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Green waste is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Location: 5-3751 Kuhio Hwy, Princeville
Kapa'a Refuse Transfer Station
Current Status: Green waste collection is now open. CLOSED for renovations through March 2026. Hours are 7:15 to 3:15 Additionally, residential bagged trash will be accepted Friday to Sunday at the Kapa‘a Base Yard located at 4900 Kahau Road, in Kapa‘a, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Līhu‘e Refuse Transfer Station (NEW UPDATE)
Current Status: Due to capacity issues related to the closure of the Kekaha Landfill, the Līhu‘e Refuse Transfer Station will close today, December 19, at 2:30 p.m. The facility is anticipated to resume regular operating hours tomorrow, Saturday, December 20.
Regular Operating Hours: 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Hanapēpē Refuse Transfer Station
Current Status: All services are available.
Regular Operating Hours: 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Location: 4380 Lele Road, Hanapēpē
Kekaha Landfill Current Status: The Kekaha Landfill is closed until further notice due to inclement weather conditions that may impact site access and safe operations.
Regular Operating Hours: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Closed for lunch from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Location: 6900 Kaumuali‘i Hwy, Kekaha
